PaperVideo — Terms of Service

By ordering a PaperVideo, uploading a research paper, providing Presenter Assets, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that:

• You are at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction
• You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
• If ordering as a Customer, you have the authority to upload the research paper and designate a Presenter
• If serving as a Presenter, you have provided informed, written consent via the Presenter Consent and Likeness Release
• You will comply with these Terms, the PaperVideo Privacy Policy, and all applicable laws and regulations

PaperVideo is an automated pipeline that converts academic medical research paper PDFs into approximately 60-second short-form vertical video presentations (1080×1920, 9:16 aspect ratio) featuring AI-generated avatar presenters, synthesized voiceovers, and animated data visualizations. A 16:9 landscape variant (1920×1080) is available as an add-on for conference and grand rounds use.

The Service includes: PDF upload and paper classification, structured data extraction, voiceover script generation, HTML scene rendering, voice synthesis via ElevenLabs, AI avatar generation via HeyGen (Avatar IV), video compositing via FFmpeg, script review by the Customer before final production, surgical revision support, multi-language variant generation (up to 12 languages), and final delivery. PaperVideo is a product within the EagleStudio platform.

2.1 Important Limitations

• PaperVideo videos are AI-generated summaries of published research. They are not peer-reviewed and do not constitute medical advice, clinical recommendations, or endorsements of the underlying research.
• AI-generated content may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. Customers are responsible for reviewing Generated Content for accuracy before distribution.
• Avatar animations are synthetic and do not represent actual video recordings of the Presenter.
• Synthesized voiceovers are generated from voice clones and do not represent actual speech by the Presenter.
• All PaperVideo videos include a mandatory AI-generated content disclosure. Removal or obscuring of this disclosure is a material breach of these Terms.

3.1 Paper Upload Rights

By uploading a research paper, the Customer represents and warrants that:

• The Customer is an author of the paper, or has obtained written authorization from the corresponding author to create a PaperVideo
• The upload and video creation do not violate any copyright, license agreement, publisher embargo, or other restriction applicable to the paper
• The Customer will not upload papers containing confidential, unpublished, or embargoed data without appropriate authorization
• The Customer understands that the paper's content will be processed by AI systems and Third-Party AI Providers as described in the Privacy Policy

3.2 Presenter Designation

The Customer is responsible for:

• Designating the Presenter from the paper's author list (or another authorized individual)
• Ensuring the designated Presenter has completed and signed the Presenter Consent and Likeness Release before video production begins
• Providing valid Presenter photographs and voice recordings that meet the technical requirements (upper-body, waist-up, frontal view; minimum 1, recommended 2–3 reference photos)
• Not designating any individual under the age of 18 as a Presenter

3.3 Script Review

The Customer has the opportunity to review the generated voiceover script before final video production. The Customer is responsible for verifying that the script accurately represents the paper's findings, ensuring no fabricated or misleading claims appear, and approving the final script before proceeding to production. The Customer must also review the completed video for accuracy before distribution.

3.4 Distribution Responsibilities

When distributing PaperVideo videos, the Customer must:

• Retain the AI-generated content disclosure in all distributed versions
• Not misrepresent the video as a traditional recording of the Presenter
• Comply with all applicable platform terms of service for the distribution channels used
• Not distribute videos in a manner that implies false endorsements, medical advice, or clinical recommendations
• Not use the video for purposes outside the scope authorized by the Presenter's Consent form

4.1 Consent Requirement

No individual may serve as a Presenter without having completed and signed the Presenter Consent and Likeness Release form. This consent is separate from and in addition to any agreement between the Presenter and the Customer.

4.2 Presenter Warranties

By providing Presenter Assets and signing the Consent form, the Presenter represents and warrants that:

• The photographs and voice recordings provided are of the Presenter and were captured with the Presenter's knowledge and approval
• The Presenter has the legal right to authorize the use of their likeness and voice as described in the Consent form
• The Presenter is not subject to any exclusive likeness or endorsement agreements that would prohibit participation in PaperVideo
• The Presenter is at least 18 years old

4.3 Consent Withdrawal

A Presenter may withdraw consent at any time by providing written notice to legal@eaglescope.ai. Upon withdrawal: no new PaperVideo videos will be generated using the Presenter's likeness or voice; Presenter Assets and Biometric Data will be deleted per the Privacy Policy; EagleScope will use commercially reasonable efforts to notify the Customer promptly. Videos already distributed prior to withdrawal are subject to the terms of the Consent form.

5.1 Pricing

Current pricing is displayed at the time of order and may vary based on subscription tier, volume, and promotional offers. The 16:9 landscape add-on and multi-language variant bundles are available at additional cost as shown at checkout.

5.2 Payment

Payments are processed through Stripe (web) or the Apple App Store (iOS). We do not directly collect or store full payment card numbers.

5.3 Credits

EagleStudio may offer credit-based pricing. Credits may be allocated through subscription plans or purchased separately. Credits are non-refundable and non-transferable unless otherwise stated. Credit balances and usage are tracked in the Customer's account dashboard.

5.4 Revisions

The Service includes a surgical revision system that supports per-scene corrections without regenerating the entire video. Minor revisions (script wording changes, scene-level corrections) may be included at no additional charge, subject to fair use limits. Revisions requiring regeneration of multiple pipeline stages (e.g., changing the Presenter, changing the paper) may be treated as new orders.

5.5 Refunds

If the Service fails to produce a deliverable video due to a technical error attributable to EagleScope, a full refund or credit will be issued. For videos that are delivered but the Customer is dissatisfied with, refund requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Refunds for iOS in-app purchases are handled by Apple per Apple's refund policy.

6.1 Research Paper Content

The intellectual property rights in the underlying research paper remain with the original authors, publishers, and rights holders. EagleScope does not claim ownership of the research paper or its content. The Customer's upload constitutes a limited license to EagleScope to process the paper's content solely for the purpose of generating the PaperVideo.

6.2 Generated Content

The Customer receives a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual license to use, distribute, and display the Generated Content for the purposes described in these Terms and the Presenter Consent form. EagleScope retains the right to use anonymized excerpts, thumbnails, or anonymized analytics derived from Generated Content for marketing, portfolio, and service improvement purposes. Neither the Customer nor EagleScope may claim sole or exclusive copyright over AI-generated components to the extent that applicable law does not recognize AI-generated works as copyrightable.

6.3 Presenter Likeness

The Presenter's likeness and voice are not assigned or transferred to EagleScope or the Customer. Their use is governed exclusively by the Presenter Consent and Likeness Release.

6.4 EagleScope Technology

The PaperVideo pipeline, including its classification algorithms, extraction schemas, HTML templates, design system, compositing logic, and all associated software, is the proprietary intellectual property of EagleScope, Inc. Customers and Presenters may not reverse-engineer, copy, or create derivative works based on the Service's technology.

6.5 Branding

PaperVideo and EagleStudio are trademarks of EagleScope, Inc. Customers may add their own institutional logos via the logo overlay feature but may not remove EagleScope branding from the video without prior written permission.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to create videos from papers you are not authorized to use
• Designate a Presenter without their informed, written consent
• Remove, alter, or obscure the AI-generated content disclosure from any video
• Misrepresent AI-generated videos as traditional recordings
• Use Generated Content to imply false endorsements, medical recommendations, or clinical advice
• Upload fraudulent, fabricated, or retracted research papers
• Use the Service to harass, defame, or embarrass any individual
• Attempt to extract, reverse-engineer, or replicate the PaperVideo pipeline or its components
• Circumvent usage limits, credit systems, or access controls
• Use the Service or Generated Content to train competing AI models without prior written permission
• Use any automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without written permission

8.1 Nature of Generated Content

PaperVideo videos are produced using artificial intelligence. You acknowledge that AI may produce errors, omissions, or inaccuracies; Generated Content is a summary, not a comprehensive reproduction of the source paper; statistical values and findings displayed in videos are extracted by AI and may not perfectly reflect the source paper's nuances; avatar animations and synthesized speech are synthetic and do not constitute actual recordings of the Presenter.

8.2 No Medical or Professional Advice

PaperVideo videos do not constitute medical, legal, financial, or professional advice. Videos are informational summaries of published research and should not be relied upon for clinical decision-making. Always consult original publications and qualified professionals.

8.3 Customer Responsibility

The Customer bears ultimate responsibility for verifying the accuracy of Generated Content before distribution. EagleScope provides tools for script review and revision but does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any generated output.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, and non-infringement. EagleScope does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free; that AI-generated content will be accurate or free from fabrication; that all relevant data from the source paper will be captured; or that avatar animations will be visually indistinguishable from real video.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, EagleScope and its founders, officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, reputation, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service or any Generated Content.

In no event shall EagleScope's total liability to you exceed the greater of: (A) the amount you paid to EagleScope for the specific video order giving rise to the claim, or (B) one hundred dollars ($100).

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless EagleScope and its founders, officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:

• Your use of the Service or distribution of Generated Content
• Your violation of these Terms or the PaperVideo Privacy Policy
• Your upload of a research paper without proper authorization
• Your designation of a Presenter without valid consent
• Any claim by a third party (including a Presenter, publisher, or co-author) related to your use of the Service
• Any clinical or professional decisions made based on information in a PaperVideo you ordered or distributed
• Your removal or alteration of the AI-generated content disclosure

12.1 Termination by Customer

You may stop using the Service at any time. Active subscription cancellation follows the terms in Section 5.

12.2 Termination by EagleScope

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, including if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, distributed Generated Content in an unauthorized manner, or designated a Presenter without valid consent.

12.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination: your right to order new videos ceases immediately; previously delivered videos remain subject to the terms of any applicable Presenter Consent; your obligation to comply with distribution restrictions survives termination; and data retention follows the PaperVideo Privacy Policy.

Disputes shall first be submitted for informal resolution by contacting legal@eaglescope.ai. If not resolved within 30 days, disputes shall be resolved by binding arbitration in Boston, Massachusetts under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Class action and class arbitration are waived. These provisions apply to all disputes arising out of or related to the PaperVideo Service.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any legal action not subject to arbitration shall be brought exclusively in the federal or state courts located in Suffolk County, Massachusetts.

The Service supports generation of video variants in up to twelve (12) languages. When multi-language variants are generated: the source paper content is translated via AI; voiceover audio is re-synthesized in the target language using the same voice clone; and the AI-generated content disclosure is included in all language variants. EagleScope does not guarantee the accuracy of AI translations. The Customer is responsible for reviewing translated content for accuracy, particularly for clinical terminology and statistical findings.

Customers may include institutional or sponsor logos in PaperVideo videos via the logo overlay feature. By uploading a logo, the Customer represents that they have the right to use and display the logo. EagleScope is not responsible for any trademark or licensing disputes related to Customer-uploaded logos. Sponsor placements do not constitute endorsement by EagleScope.

• Entire Agreement — These Terms, together with the PaperVideo Privacy Policy, the Presenter Consent and Likeness Release (where applicable), constitute the entire agreement between you and EagleScope regarding the PaperVideo Service.
• Severability — If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
• Waiver — Our failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver.
• Assignment — You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. EagleScope may assign without restriction in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
• Force Majeure — EagleScope is not liable for failures or delays caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including Third-Party AI Provider outages, API rate limits, or service disruptions.
• Notices — We may provide notices via email, through the EagleStudio app, or by posting on our website.

We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated by posting updated Terms and sending email notification. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.
